A Prospector does not really die, they get foamed to protect their body and to transport them back to Prospect Station.

All loot that they carried at that point in time, that was not in their safe pockets, can be picked up by other players.

If a player gets foamed, another player is able to drop into the same instance of the world. This means that you will have a constant ebb and flow of leaving & foamed players and new Prospectors out for fame & fortune dropping onto the surface.
