Last update June 14, 2019

Some important facts for the playtest:

  1. The test will start on June 28 at 3 PM CEST / 9 AM EDT
  2. The test is scheduled to end on Monday, July 1 at 9 AM CEST / 3 AM EDT. You can check the server status here.
  3. For this playtest, the chat is enabled during matches and in the pre-match lobby! Additionally, you can still use the comm wheel and we also recommend that you join the official Discord, in case you want to ask for advice or give feedback.
  4. We have recently introduced Spanish and French localization into the game. If you are a native speaker of those languages, we would really appreciate your help to improve the quality by reporting wrong or missing translations via the “Report Bug -> Localization Bug” tab in the game menu.
  5. We integrated the new Unreal Engine 4 version 4.22, so some instability and crashes may occur.

Known issues:

  • BNO Timer always stays at 24 seconds.
  • The black-and-gold coating for some pistols (secondary weapons) are not shown correctly in the preview, but they are still in the game.

What to expect?

We are introducing our FOUNDERS PACKS!

Finally, they have arrived: our very own FOUNDERS PACKS are now available!

If you want to support the development of The Cycle, this is the most immediate way to do it…and do it in style!

Choose between the SCOUT PACK, EXPLORER PACK or the massive PROSPECTOR PACK and become a true FOUNDER of the game! You can learn more about the Founders Packs and buy them in the in-game “Shop” section or through our website: Founders Packs

Adjusted the Drone Carrier Contract

We listened to your feedback concerning the Drone Salvage mission. Essentially, it took too many drones to start the Carrier Launch contract, especially since you needed at least 2 sets of drones to be activated. This led to unsatisfying waiting times. Thus, we decided to try out something new: Only 3 drones are now required to launch a Drone Carrier! To balance it out, VP for the Carrier Launch got reduced to 3.

    • Defend/Attack drone carrier
      • Defend drone carrier contract now only awards 3 victory points
      • Only 3 drones are needed to initiate launch

New character outfits

  • 3 new outfits have been added to the selection

AI: Added variety to existing enemy types

We are always working to improve AI behavior and to introduce new mechanics, so we added a new AI type variation for Ticks and also some tweaks to the spawning behavior of enemy groups:

  • Brood Ticks will spawn Blast/Acid ticks when they explode
  • Tweaked AI spawning groups to introduce new AI variation types
  • Warden HP pools reduced

  • Weapons
    • KBR Longshot:

      • Damage from 125 to 115
      • Refire rate from 0.35 sec to 0.4s
      • Mods:
        • Burst:
          • Burst interval from 0,08 to 0,12
          • Refire from 0.525 to 0.8
      • Dev Comments: We keep finding some weird combos of weapons/mods which are wonky at best and essentially too good/powerful.
    • KARLA
      • Direct damage from 300 to 200
      • AoE damage from 200 to 250
      • AoE radius from 3.75m to 4.25m
      • Spread decrease delay from 1.65s to 1.4s
      • Spread decrease from 7.5 to 6.5
      • Spread in-air penalty from 2x to 1.5x
      • Dev Comments: KARLA was under-performing for an 800c weapon and did not appropriately reward skilled play or fit any particular playstyle.
  • Abilities
    • Snare Trap
      • Reduced max number of active instances from 4 to 2
  • DBNO
    • DBNO start-in and revive damage resistances now have a smoother increase to full damage
    • AI damage while in DBNO pushed up from 1/3 to 1/2 of the normal damage
  • UI
    • HUD prompt shown in DBNO edited to clarify what is expected of the player

  • Howler VFX are more polished
  • Changed behaviur of the Warden VFX and polished the VFX accordingly.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the icon for voice chat muting not being displayed properly.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the animations for material rewards to display in the wrong order.

Thank you for all your feedback last week.

Please remember, this is an alpha build, bugs and crashes are to be expected. If you find any issues during your session, please don’t hesitate to report it using the bug reporter tool in-game. Please also keep in mind that queue times, especially late in the night might be longer than expected due to lower player count.

We hope you have fun during your time on Fortuna III and look forward to reading your feedback!
