WELCOME TO THE FRONTIER
You, Prospector, are among the only ones skilled, courageous or perhaps foolish enough to drop onto an uninhabitable planet ravaged by a radioactive storm at the edge of space. Be ready to mine for precious minerals, scavenge abandoned settlements, hunt vicious creatures and recover lost treasures. You can also fight your rival Prospectors and steal their precious loot. Whatever you evac with is yours to keep. Sell your spoils for profit, use the materials to craft better gear or upgrade your private quarters, turn in contract objectives for juicy rewards or simply equip your newfound items in preparation for your next drop.
Fortuna III's fauna is as deadly as it gets. From small critters that will tear you apart in seconds to gigantic, boulder-throwing colossi, expect to meet a lot of natural resistance on the surface. While these beasts can provide an excellent source of income and materials for your endeavours, they will most likely force you to reconsider your choice of a loadout. A simple pistol may be enough to take out a few Striders, but don't except to defeat a Crusher without more firepower. Never understimate the wildlife and keep an eye out for deadlier creature variations. One misstep is enough to become another victim of the planet's renowned lack of hospitality.
Fortuna III is a deadly planet that can be visited at a moment's notice: just drop onto the surface and start venturing the wild in search of fun and profit. No matter how many evac, fall or get foamed, there will always be another one to take their place. Will they be new threats or unwilling prey? It's up to you to consider the risks and decide how to play this one. Just make sure to evac before it's too late!
Contracts are the bread and butter of any Prospector. Every faction has a range of contracts to offer you and they're all willing to accept your help. Completing these contracts will earn you a nice bonus and improve your standing with your respective employers. Higher reputation levels will grant you access to better gear and riskier, more rewarding contracts. These objectives may guide your steps on the surface - but remember you still need to make it out in one piece!
A good Prospector always prepares meticulously for their next drop. Gear comes in many forms: weapons, shields, helmets, tools, medkits, grenades and other special consumables. Customise your own loadout on the station and prepare to fight for survival. Be careful not to put all your eggs in the same basket though. After all you will lose every piece of equipment you've dropped with if you can't manage to evac!
That pistol is strong enough for you but could do with a bit more ammo? That SMG would be perfect if it had just a bit less recoil? Maybe all that new rifle needs is a new scope? Weapon attachments allow you to customise your loadout even further. Buy them, craft them with materials or find them on the surface, then apply them to your favorite weapons for that one additional kick you've been looking for. Every Prospector will likely do the same, so expect to see all kinds of different weapons!
Loot and purchasing aren't your only options for acquiring new gear and weapons. Nothing's catching your fancy? Then just do it yourself! Find materials in the wilds and use them to craft yourself everything a Prospector might need: shields, helmets, tools, weapons, attachements an more! With time you'll find rarer materials and will be able to craft higher tier gear, all the way to legendary weapons like the terrifying Zeus Beam.
Even the best Prospector needs some rest occasionally. Luckily Prospect Station hosts your very own personal quarters. As you progress you can upgrade your quarters to unlock a bigger inventory stash and safety pockets. It also houses upgradeable Currency-generators for Kmarks and Aurum, and a daily delivered equipment set, bringing you progress during your off-hours.
Life on Prospect Station and Fortuna III is dominated by the factions. They send Prospectors on increasingly dangerous jobs and missions, and in return supply them with money and evermore deadly gear to overcome the odds. A Prospector may lose it all, but the factions always win.
