What exactly is The Cycle about?

The Cycle is a competitive match-based first person quester. On Fortuna III you compete against other Prospectors or collaborate with them to claim as much resources as possible. Only problem is, the planet is hostile and in more ways the one: alien wildlife that tends to want to rip your face off, Prospectors that are at best untrustworthy and at worse absolutely murderous. And then there’s the storm cycle, which, if you don’t make it to evac in time, will absolutely ensure the end of you. But hey, you could get rich!

Sounds like another Battle Royale game, is it?

The win condition of Battle Royale games is “last man standing“, whereas in The Cycle the winner is the Prospector that completes the most contracts during the match and manages to evacuate the planet in time. Theoretically you can play the game without any PvP. Apart from player hunters, the only reason to engage in PvP is to obtain certain objectives for yourself or stop a Prospector who finished more contracts than you!

So in short, no it’s not a Battle Royale game, it’s a Competitive Quester (PvEvP game) which is trying to do something else. Come try it for yourself and let us know, what you think about it.

How many players are in a match?

Currently we support 20 players, plus lots of alien monsters and some cute Fortuna III native wildlife.

Can I play with my friends?

You can either play solo or invite your friends via Steam to join your squad of 4 players in total.

What platforms will it be released on?

Initially on Windows PC, but we plan to bring it to consoles at a later date.

What languages are supported during the Closed Alpha test phase?

English, German and Russian. Expect more during the Beta phase.

How long have you been working on it?

Born from an internal pitching jam, The Cycle has been developed since the start of 2018. We saw great promise in our prototype (2017), which captured a blend of session based FPS matches and quest objectives in an open world, a genre we have dubbed internally as a “Competitive Quester”.

Do you have a development roadmap I can view?
